Delta Airlines--Drama....

I thought my drama with flying was over after the horrid time we had trying to make it to Pisa, Italy.
Let's recount the issues:
- Missed our connection
- No other flight for another 24 hours
- Told it was no one's fault
- We had to find a place to stay for the night
- We paid for our our hotel
- We not be reimbursed for any expenses since it wasn't mechanical
- Began the next day waiting in the airport for 9 hours before we took a 9 hour flight
And even after all of this, the beauty of Italy took all the drama of getting to this wonderful destination and vanished it. After spending the night in the cold, heartless city of New York, it was so refreshing to embark on the hills and valleys of Italy.

Delta Airlines forgot what customer service means and how to display it. We flew from BWI to JFK, a flight that usually takes 40 mins took 1 hour and 40 mins. When we arrived to JFK, no one was there to explain to us that we had missed our flight. We had to run around the airport trying to find the gate, only to be told the plane had left. Afterwards we waited in line for about an hour just trying to see when the next flight was and how we could make that flight. We were faced with customer service representatives that were rude, upsetting and with very bad attitudes. No one apologized for the missed connection. No one acknowledged our frustration. We were simply told that we could stay at the airport for the next 24 hours for the next flight that was re booked for us as a courtesy. Well we weathered the storm. We stayed at the Holiday Inn for the evening and ate some of the worst Chinese food ever.

My stay in Italy was wonderful but now that it was time to leave we wondered what flight drama would be before us. Well the flight from Pisa to JFK was fine but once we arrived at JFK, everything went downhill. Our flight was to leave at 7:45pm but at 5:30pm, I received an email from Delta stating that they were trying to call me to inform me that the flight was delayed until 9:10pm. I went to ask a Delta representative and she showed me how in their system there were no delays. We waited and waited and at 7:30 the flight rep announced the flight would be delayed until 8p.m. At 8 pm, I received a call from Delta stating that the flight would indeed leave at 7:45 pm. Then at 8:30, after a group of us went to ask why we had not boarded, we were told that we were waiting for a flight attendant to arrive. Needless to say we did not board our flight until 9 pm.

After flying from Pisa, through 6 time zones, who wants to wait another 4 hours just to board a flight that takes 40 mins.

D-Drama from start to finish
E-Exercised no training
L-Lacking consideration of flyer's
T-Terrible customer service
A-Attitudes from workers

So three tips for traveling, no matter how far:
-Try to pack all you need in your carry-ons
-Arrive extremely early, even if the flight is a short one
-Come prepared with books, laptop and I-Pod, you never know how long it may take

From checking in to getting our luggage there was drama the whole trip. Nothing ran smoothly and it has been vowed by myself and others that we will never fly Delta again.
